Safety & Trust

TeenWorks is designed specifically for teens ages 13–17. Safety, privacy, and trust are foundational to everything we build.

Youth-First Design

TeenWorks is not a general job board. We intentionally design our platform around youth employment laws, parental involvement, and age-appropriate safeguards. Families, schools, and employers all play a role in creating a safe experience.

Double Verification

TeenWorks uses a double-verification approach to help build trust:

  • Employer verification: Employers and job postings are reviewed to help ensure legitimacy and compliance with youth employment laws.
  • Youth & guardian involvement: Teen participation is designed to include parental or guardian awareness and approval, especially for users under 16.

Parental Approval & COPPA Compliance

TeenWorks complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Users under 16 require parental or guardian consent before certain features or data processing are enabled.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to stay involved, review opportunities, and communicate with employers as appropriate.

Learn more on our COPPA Compliance page.

Privacy & Data Protection

We are committed to protecting personal information and limiting data collection to what is necessary to operate TeenWorks safely and effectively.

  • Personal data is not sold.
  • Access is limited to authorized systems and processes.
  • Information is handled in accordance with our published policies.

For details, review our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

Security Measures

TeenWorks uses industry-standard security practices to protect data and communications, including:

  • SSL/TLS encryption to secure data in transit
  • Encrypted storage for sensitive information
  • Secure access controls and monitoring
  • Spam, abuse, and bot protection tools

Accessibility & ADA Commitment

TeenWorks is committed to accessibility and inclusion. We strive to meet WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines and support users with disabilities by designing features compatible with assistive technologies.

Community Responsibility

Safety is a shared responsibility. We encourage:

  • Open communication between teens, parents, and employers
  • Following all local, state, and federal youth employment laws
  • Reporting concerns or suspicious activity promptly
