Our commitment

TeenWorks is committed to providing a website and services that are accessible to as many people as possible, including people with disabilities. We aim to design and maintain TeenWorks so it can be used with assistive technologies such as screen readers, magnifiers, voice input software, and alternative input devices.

Standards and ADA

We strive to follow recognized accessibility best practices and standards. Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA where reasonably possible.

We also work to support accessibility needs consistent with applicable disability rights and accessibility laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), where applicable.

Because accessibility is an ongoing effort, we continually improve our experience as new pages and features are added.

Accessibility features on TeenWorks

  • Text alternatives (alt tags): We use descriptive alt text for meaningful images (like logos and icons) so screen readers can convey their purpose. Decorative images may use empty alt text (alt="") to avoid unnecessary noise.
  • Keyboard navigation: Interactive elements (links, buttons, forms) are designed to be reachable and usable by keyboard.
  • Focus visibility: We maintain visible focus indicators to help keyboard users see where they are on the page.
  • Readable forms: Form fields use labels, clear instructions, and helpful validation messaging where possible.
  • Color and contrast: We aim for good color contrast and avoid relying on color alone to communicate important information.
  • Responsive layout: The site is designed to work across devices and screen sizes, including zoomed views.

Assistive technology compatibility

TeenWorks is built using standard web technologies and is intended to be compatible with commonly used assistive technologies. If you encounter an issue with a specific browser or assistive tool, please let us know so we can investigate.

Known limitations

Some areas of the site may not yet fully meet every accessibility preference or requirement. For example, certain third-party tools (such as security or spam prevention widgets) may have their own accessibility constraints. We work to select accessible options and configure them appropriately.

Feedback and accommodation requests

If you have difficulty accessing any part of TeenWorks, need an accommodation, or want to report an accessibility issue, please contact us. We aim to respond within 3–5 business days.

When you reach out, it helps to include:

  • The page URL (or the page name)
  • What you were trying to do
  • What went wrong (and any error message)
  • Your device, browser, and (if applicable) assistive technology
